HOW ONE DIRECTION SAVES LIVES

First things first, I am a hardcore One Direction fan myself and am writing this post since we do get a lot of hate and reproaches and I just want to clarify some things.
If you would ask some random person on street what they know about the 1D Fandom, most will probably say that they’re little twelve-year-old’s who haven’t heard about life yet. Well, actually those people are whether liars or don’t know a thing about Directioners (One Direction fans) because that’s not true! I’ve done some research and came to these (for some human-beings) “shocking” results:

46% of fans are aged 35 and above and 15% are over 55! Nearly one in five (18 per cent) of all under 25s classed themselves as fans, but at the other end of the spectrum 14 per cent of over 65s said that they supported the band. Also, all my Directioner friends are all at least 18 years old and I am 16 myself. So, the fandom does NOT consist of only pre-teens or under ten-year-olds. I don’t want to offend the tween fans either but I am and so are for sure many others too, just annoyed of hearing the same comments over and over again: ,,Um…One Direction…isn’t that, that one band screaming little girls are obsessed with? I’ve heard they’re very attractive but seriously have no talent.’’ I hope you got why these perspectives are getting on my nerves…
They have talent, they can sing and their relationships are as real as you and me! One Direction isn’t just a band, they’re lifesavers to loads of people out there. I know so many histories of fans who had been suffering from depression and 1D literally saved their life! I have to admit, they make me happy too. On the darkest and most miserable days they still manage to put a smile on my face. Their music, their personalities and in general who they are makes it all worth it in the end. I am now for seven years in this fandom and won’t ever regret “joining” it, they’re a huge part of my life and I am proud of it. They also made my confidence grow so much! I don’t worry that much more, I don’t care what others may think or not think about me, I don’t think about my appearance that much anymore. I’ve generally learned to love live more. I can remember being that shy girl who is sitting somewhere not talking and just being ‘’invisible’’ but now all my friends are saying, I am less shy and actually talk a lot! That sounds a bit weird but it’s true.

I however, still can’t understand why some human-beings still don’t respect the other for loving something with all their heart and continue giving hate. I mean, if they make us happy and give us joy, why can’t we love and support them? They’ve taught me to stop caring about what others think about me, that’s it’s ok to be different and stand for what you believe. I could go on forever but the point is, better do your research before ever sending hate because those boys mean a lot to millions. So, remember, they aren’t only musicians, they are lifesavers without even knowing they are.

I know, this is kind of a different post to what I usually upload but since this is more of a personal blog I find it only right to mention my life as a fangirl too. I’ll still mainly write about fashion but also about One Direction. I am actually thinking about starting a YouTube channel dedicated to 1D which a lot of you surprisingly requested. I’ll keep you updated and don’t worry the next one will be a fashion one again!

Lots of love,
Victoria

  3. I've never been a fan of this band - even of my niece loves it but I like how music can help people get through bad times but it also connects people :)

  4. I'm not a huge fan of this band, mainly because I prefer a different genre but I can never understand people hating on others for music preference. There's such a variety out there, imagine if there was only one type of genre. How dull would life be?

  12. I'm not a fan of this band or their music, however I don't expect everyone to like my musical tastes either (I know my hubby doesn't get some of the music I like, haha!) As long as it makes you happy, have whatever hobby you want I think! And listen to what you love - life is too short to do anything else. Enjoy being a fan and sharing your love for the band :)

Hope you've been having a lovely week! Another busy one here, but not as stressful as last week so that's nice :)

  13. It's always fun to read about the things that people like. Oh man, I didn't know that their fanbase reaches over 55 years old as well! I respect that they have helped people fight through depression through love and music. Thanks for sharing your thoughts :).

  15. As long as you enjoy their music, I think that's the only thing that matters :) Infact, I think music is one of those things where you wouldn't even expect everyone to like the same stuff as you, as it's just so diverse and unique too I guess x

  16. I think the world is full of unhappy and insecure people. Instead of being hateful to someone for one thing they should focus more on bettering themselves. I love how open and honest this post is its absolutely lovely :) http://www.bauchlefashion.com/2018/02/investment-bags-for-spring.html

  18. Great post, Victoria! 1D has good songs for sure. Unfortunately, you can't always reason with people who say bad things. They are insecure. So, just continue being you and liking who you like. :)
